“Into The Mystic” Limited Edition print

Created for my 2021 solo show, Obsidian Butterfly, "Into The Mystic" manifested during the global pandemic and an apocalyptic California wildfire season. The fires came and I evacuated to the northern California coast. There was an otherworldly quality to the sun in the smoke-filled skies, I felt as if I was gazing at an alien sun hanging brutally over the Pacific Ocean.
This painting started a new direction for me, in which the figure has been removed entirely, forcing the viewer to supply the missing figurative element.
The title is borrowed from the Van Morrison song of the same name.
